Can’t-Wait Wednesday: “A Touch of Gold” by Annie Sullivan

Can't Wait Wednesday

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted Tressa at Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about that we have yet to read. It’s based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted Jill at Breaking the Spine.

This Wednesday’s featured book is one I’m really, really super-duper excited to read.

36575823Gold is wealth. Wealth is power. Power is a curse.

King Midas once had the ability to turn all he touched into gold. But after his gift—or curse—almost killed his daughter, Midas relinquished The Touch forever. Ten years later, Princess Kora still bears the consequences of her father’s wish: her skin shines golden, rumors follow her everywhere she goes, and she harbors secret powers that are getting harder to hide.

Kora spends her days locked in the palace, concealed behind gloves and veils, trying to ignore the stares and gossip of courtiers. It isn’t until a charming young duke arrives that Kora realizes there may be someone out there who doesn’t fear her or her curse. But their courtship is disrupted when a thief steals precious items from the kingdom, leaving the treasury depleted and King Midas vulnerable. Thanks to her unique ability to sense gold, Kora is the only one who can track the thief down. As she sails off on her quest, Kora learns that not everything is what it seems—not thieves, not pirates, and not even curses. She quickly discovers that gold—and the power it brings—is more dangerous than she’d ever believed.

Midas learned his lesson at a price. What will Kora’s journey cost?

Don’t you just find that blurb interesting? We all know about King Midas and how he learned his story. Now, it’s his daughter’s turn. That last line in the blurb just totally ups up the intrigue (and makes me nervous at the same time 😥😥😥) “Midas learned his lesson at a price. What will Kora’s journey cost?”

I have an ARC of this book but just can’t get to it yet since I have to finish up with my July review copies first. I only have two books left from my July pile though so I can start reading this very soon.

A Touch of Gold releases August 14 under Blink. Add it to your TBR on Goodreads.

Exactly, plus the blurb for this book just really intrigued me. Wonder how the author spins the old tale. It’s always the first question that pops in my head when it comes to re-tellings.

Thank you for dropping by my blog by the way. I’ve been offline for a few days because of work. Just now getting to the comments to my posts. Have a great day ahead! 😀
