First Line Fridays: “White as Silence, Red as Song” by Alessandro D’ Avenia

First Line Fridays (feature photo)

First Line Fridays is a weekly feature hosted by Hording Books.

Hello! Happy Friday! Welcome to another edition of First Line Fridays.

This week’s post is a translated book. Originally published in Italian, this book is being touted as Italy’s The Fault in Our Stars. That’s something! I loved TFiOS so when I saw this book in NetGalley I knew I just got to have it.

Everything is a color. Every emotion is a color.

Silence is white – and I can’t stand white. It has no boundaries: a white elephant, a white flag, a white lie… In fact, white isn’t even a color. It is nothing like silence. A kind of nothing without words or music, Silent, alone.

I will be posting more about this book in the coming days. But for now, check out the other blog tour hosts reviews, features and other fun stuff. Here’s the is the blog tour schedule.

I’ve seen this book around. I must check it out.

I’m sharing the first line from “My Hands Came Away Red” by Lisa McKay on my blog today, but I’ve also just finished reading Lisa Harris’s new release “A Secret to Die For”:

A sharp clatter jerked Grace Callahan out of the novel she was reading.

    Have a great weekend!

Over on my blog I’m sharing the first line from Magnolia Summer by Melanie Dickerson. Here I’ll share the first line from chapter 5 of the same book.

Oh I like the sound of this book! I’m going to check it out! Thank you Rachel!

    Happy Friday!

My First Lines come from Season of Wonder by RaeAnne Thayne…..

“This is totally lame. Why do we have to stay here and wait for you? We can walk home in, like, ten minutes.” Daniela Capelli drew in a deep breath and prayed for patience, something she seemed to be doing with increasing frequency these days when it came to her thirteen-year-old daughter. “It’s starting to snow and already almost dark.”

Have an awesome weekend and happy reading!💕📚

Ha! I never thought of white as a bad thing. Lol! Happy Friday! The book I’m sharing on my blog is “Out of the Storm” by Jody Hedlund. Since I’m still reading it, I will share the first line of the fourth chapter here. “Isabelle,” called Henry from the bedroom. “I need you!” May your weekend be all you’re hoping it will be.

I just want to say that your blog is stunning! 🙂

    Happy Friday!
Today on my blog, I am sharing the first line from Tracy Groot’s novel The Stones of my Accusers. Currently, I am reading Finding Us by Heather Moore. So far, it’s a fun book. One of those books that has me smiling with each page! I am starting chapter 7, so I will leave the first line from there.

“Opening the bookshop on Saturday morning wasn’t as bad as Felicity thought it might be.”

Hope you have an excellent weekend filled with quality reading time!

Happy Friday! After preparing to share the first line from Shelley Shepard Gray’s Her Fear, I ended up reading the entire book. So here I’ll share the first lines for a novella I plan to read soon, Come Fly with Me by Gina Welborn and Becca Whitham:

Please, let him not be here. As Luanne Palmer climbed the stairs to the second floor, she muttered “please” after “please.”

I love the cover of this book. I totally missed it on NetGalley, but I am already so behind on my lists. I loved The Fault In Our Stars…let me know if you think it’s similar. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts.

My review’s coming up early next week. Maybe it will help you decide if you’ll still pick it up? Haha! Have a great weekend, Christine. Hope you’re away from the hurricane’s path. Stay safe. 😊

This week on my blog I shared the first line from Playing for More by Case Keenum to celebrate NFL season. (I feel the need to share that I’m a Colts fan). I am also currently reading Indivisible by Travis Thrasher so I will share the first line of that here: “She carries the memories and always will.” Hope you have a great weekend with plenty of reading time! 🙂
